The Early Years

Just as a weary traveller reposes in the shade of a tree, after having trekked for miles under the blazing sun; similarly, souls tired of traversing through the miseries of the world, sick of the cycles of life and death, are taking refuge under the soothing shade of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission. Just as a shady tree, affording shelter to many a tired traveller, has its origin in a seed; similarly, the Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, now spread the world over, had its origin as a small group.

From the early 1970s, even during Pujya Gurudevshri's childhood days, seekers were attracted by His divinity and sought His spiritual advice. From 1977, a sizeable group of aspirants residing in Mumbai were following the teachings of Shrimad Rajchandraji, under the guidance of Pujya Gurudevshri. Various activities like bhakti, pravachans, tirthyatras, retreats, etc. were organised in order to enhance each one's spiritual growth. In those days, activities were carried out at the residences of various devotees. In time, as the number of aspirants grew; with it grew the need to further amalgamate the group's activities. As a result, a place was procured and under the guidance of Pujya Gurudevshri, a trust, 'Shrimad Rajchandra Adhyatmik Satsang Sadhana Kendra' (SRASSK), was established.
