Creates History at the Mumbai Marathon 2011
Get, Set, Go! 1500 enthusiasts from Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur participated in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, 2011 in support of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, the 10-fold programme of social initiatives. Leading the way and inspiring the contingent was Pujyashri Gurudev, who walked the whole course of 6 kms of the Dream Run.
Being the largest contingent and the highest number of participants supporting a single cause in the Marathon’s eight year history, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur set off a record. The sole purpose was to generate awareness about various issues that plague society and to make a difference in the lives of the less privileged.

Joining Pujyashri Gurudev were celebrities from the popular television series Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma - Disha Vakani (Daya), Dilip Joshi (Jetha) and Gurucharan Singh (Mr. Sodhi); and film personalities like Aarti Chabria, Aditya Raj Kapoor and child star Ahsaas Channa of 'My Friend Ganesha' fame. Corporate and business houses like Calyx Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, State Bank of India Mutual Fund enthusiastically showed their support for the 10 care programme. PETA joined in support of Animal Care to promote a common cause of vegetarianism.
Over 250 participants of the contingent, dressed in vivid costumes and attires representing the 10 Cares, were also the winners of the Kingfisher Bindaas Bande Run-in-Costume Award! Several followers carried banners with innovative slogans, stirring visuals and information about the different causes and the need to contribute towards them.
Also supporting the cause were 200 children of Shrimad Rajchandra Divinetouch who turned up with hundreds of onlookers at the Marine Drive promenade to cheer the participants.
London based Dharmesh Doshi and Mumbai based Kunal Parekh, active members of the Mission ran 42 km i.e. the Full Marathon in support of SRLC.

Celebrated television actor of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma, Dilip Joshi (Jetha) says, "What really touched me about Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC) is that they focus on personal as well as social growth. Being here today is an honour and I am proud to be associated with an organisation that works tirelessly for the society." He further adds, "I am glad to see that the young and old are so fervent about the cause." Co star Disha Vakani (Dayabhabhi) said that she experienced inner peace and divinity, when she visited Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram at Dharampur.
The Dream Run started at 9:10 a.m. near CST; with high spirits and soaring enthusiasm participants of the Mission rejoiced and spread social awareness, impacting bystanders and onlookers throughout the journey. Proving to be a thoroughly fulfilling experience for all, the zeal to support SRLC initiatives during this 2 hour run was overwhelming.
SRLC is constantly and sincerely striving to promote support for needy children, women and tribal communities along with addressing issues concerning animals, the environment and other community causes.
